About Cicada emerging from pupal stage. To catch this scene in daylight is very rare. I've witnessed this many times but all at night, just after dark. That is the normal time for the Cicada to exit the ground to shed it's exoskeleton. In 35 years of photography, this is only the second time to witness this during daylight hours.
Nikon D100, Nikon 300mm f/4d, ISO-200, 1/30th second @ f/11, Ambient light with gold reflector held to left side, Tripod, NEF Raw file, White Balance: Manual-Cloudy.

Whenever I see your name, I know I'm going to love the image. And this one didn't let me down.

Ronnie, this really is nice. And the natural light is sooo nice!

Wonder why he didn't use the darkness of night? :)

The gold reflectors really work great!
Amazing details in this cicada! And of course the composition is fantastic!

Superb,
Lori :)

Beyond awesome!!

Not only is this image remarkable in all the ways that your entire portfolio is remarkable, the whole idea of capturing this rarely seen moment is really terrific.

Not enough superlatives to really comment well.
