About ...now in waist-deep water, Canal Street is silent. There never has been enough room for the dead in New Orleans, and no one has had time to think about what to do with the hundreds of new bodies that aren't even being recovered yet, as rescues continue.

This was shot in May 2004, before New Orleans lost its soul to a howling storm.

Beautiful shot - never seen them in real life, now maybe never will. Hope you're keeping safe and dry and I wish you all the best in these difficult times...

This is a poignant image given the current emergency state of the area.
Thank you for showing it

Oh, no the street car you displayed was part of the original St. Charles line; this is (sigh...was) part of the brand-new Canal Street line that went all the way from the river to the Cemeteries by the lake.

Those Trolly's (I thought they were Street Cars) look sharp. When I shot them they were thrashed (perfect for B / W conversion) I was born, in a cross fire hurricane, and I howled at my ma in the drivin rain'....Yes, that's right, it is Jumpin Jack Flash (your about - the last line - reminded me of these lines for some reason) Nice shot, another 7....

What I wonder about is why did they build things there in the first place if it was a swamp to start with.. That will be a mess for some time, maybe it would be better to relocate the whole mess. Great colors. Don.

An excellent picture showing sunnier times but the irony of the trolley bus going to the cemetary. How awful the pictures we are seeing on our news every day, hard to comprehend

Beautiful image Paul and one that we probably won't see for a very long time. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the family and friends in New Orleans and the surrounding area. Thanks for sharing.....Darlene
