About The human condition transcends the boundaries of countries,
race, social class, age and sex. In a blink of an eye, life
as we know it can be changed. Help the victims of Hurricane
Katrina and the suffering of people around the world. For Hurricane Katrina, you can reach the Red Cross at 1-800-HELP NOW.

"When the wind blows down this hard,
Many a bond is broken.
See the water lie on the ground
From where the heavens opened.

Lord, how will you get through this night
With your dreams departed?
And who alone will comfort you?
Only the broken hearted.

So you've gone beyond your means,
Every wound is open,
Your best laid plans are out of reach,
And all your fears unspoken.

Chorus

Sweet revenge is spoken then;
In the twilight it is gone.
To living lies with no escape,
Lord, i would rather be alone.

I press my fingers to the wood
To tell you of my dreaming,
To sing you songs from olden times,
To keep the love light gleaming.

'cause there's a place where we can go,
Where we will not be parted.
And who alone will enter there?
Only the broken hearted.

Only the broken, broken hearted.
Only the broken, broken hearted.
Only the broken, broken hearted.
Only the broken, broken hearted."
Broken Hearted Lyrics by Eric Clapton

I have always loved black and whites. You have a great eye for narative and expresion of the lines, textures; placing the human element with the enviroment where they both are one. This is exquisite...

Exceptional photo journalism, Paul. This outstanding image tells many stories. A technically excellent photo, which allows the viewer to appreciate the aftermath of a merciless natural event. All seen through a simple, single subject image.

Thanks for your comment, Paul. It has drawn my attention to your artistic and diverse portfolio.

The deep toning, the lighting, the varied rough textures contrasting with the softer ones of the woman's shawl and dress are all supreme, Paul. Your 'about' is quite poignant.

There is a lot of sadness in the world everyday, and one can choose to either ignore it or do what they can to help. This is a touching image, and I want to reach out to this woman and comfort her. Right now my husband is down in New Orleans with the natl guard trying to do what they can to help. I don't have a lot of money, but have donated as much as I could. I can't imagine what it is like to be in their shoes right now. The stories on the news brings tears to my eyes. Each tragedy no matter how small or large is horrible. Just like the deaths caused by the bomb threat. Soldiers on both sides dying for the war. People dying from hunger, fires, riots, drive bys, etc. Even when the hurricane disaster begins to calm down, there are still many that need our help...
