Love the effect Del.
My "guess" is that the chair was a static image and recorded truly. The flames on the BBQ were always moving and created the abstract that you have.
I think it is brilliant - certainly gives me some ideas. And you know just how daft I am when it comes to barbeques don't you ....

I don't know why, Del but I certainly like the effect you achieved with your little 'accident'. The wave of intense heat and colour and the light trail coming off the lawn chair are ghostly and surreal. Sometimes mishaps yield interesting results.

This is pertain to heat.for example when
you look to highway from faraway,all cars looks blur and unclear.only my idea....

My guess, and you know I know nothing, kekeke, is the chair was the center of focus and the camera slipped in such a way that the chair remained centered. Even if the camera twisted or turned, as long and the focal point remained constant on at least one axis, that part of the image would remain in focus. Also, the flames are in motion so they would give a motion blur no matter what happened to the camera. There is a bit of ghost trail on the chair and some of the fire, so more than likely, the image was mainly registered before the camera motion. And there is agreat song by Carbon Leaf titled "Blue Ridge Laughing" good stuff all the way 'round.

I guess there was enough time to register the chair before you slipped, Del, to get some detail. There is a bit of blurred image going up from the chair as well, but of course the fire had a lot more light so it's blurred image is much brighter. That's about all I can think of!
