Just discovered this image. It really is stunning. I thought it was the resurrection combined with the crucifiction. Just amazing Mark.

I do like your choice for a title and the way you have highlighted the fountain. Mary

I've read all the great comments on this fabulous photo , although they all agree with Carlos's point of view which is certainly respectable , but I like a lot the cadre here , it makes me concentrate on the upper bright area & go through a dreaming world !! it's unusual beauty seen here !! thanks for sharing .

Very nicely seen Mark, I too might like more of the spray off to either side, would just sort of complete the shot for me, IMHO buddy.......:-))

Much appreciated on both counts, I fell for the top part where it looked so alive, and gave into that. Should have named it fire water, and it "MIGHT' have drawn the eye away, will look into the book and try again. Thanks Carlos.

The great Diane Arbus wrote in the preface to her book ?Diane Arbus: An Aperture Monograph?, and I cant give the exact quote since I don?t have the book near, (buy it Mark ? great stuff ? great photographer, excellent writer?) Anyway, she said something like ?? the first thing that stands out in a picture is always the flaw??. And this is so very true, don?t you think?
Your shooting stars is ?notorious? for what it doesn?t show. It doesn?t ?serve? the picture to chop the terrific umbrella of light effect created by the spray since it breaks the poetic symmetry of what is a rather surreal night scene. I would keep the vertical dimensions as shown but expand both sides to make a square presentation? Great potential? surreal the stone ?chalice? appearing as vision, as if a man with arms outstretched, Christ like? It is a picture where symmetry is all important, and it should be composed accordingly.
Your friend

Mark - I agree about this image's attractiveness - it's a lovely photo. I think Carlos may mean that the crop circumscribes the overall effect - shuts it in somewhat. My eye wants to see more laterally, and follow where the spray was headed.

please elaborate, I am trying to understand, is it too chopped off on the spray? Because this is a very easy place for me to get back to , and I was wondering if you could give me a few hint's before I go again.
Thanks
Mark

It's a fascinating image as it stands, but Carlos makes some good points. Regards, --George

the tint is perfectly apt and the idea of the image is interesting and more so since you mention the time of the shot. Esthetically however the picture suffers for the lack of lateral space ? on both sides of the frame.
