If you have the money buy the Nikon. I chose Tokina over Sigma because the Sigma lens then did not take screw on filters. Also I have the Sigma 28-70 and the focussing ring gets jammed all the time. Sigma has better glass but poorer construction.

I find the Tokina quite sharp. Though looking back I should have bought the 15-30 instead of 12-24. You don't really need a 12mm and at that wide end there is too much distortion.

any comments about Tokina? i will either buy a Sigma or a Tokina 12-24..
