OK all you bottle people, here is something of glass other than a bottle. I have a customer that wants his headset to be displayed on this here glass head and to make it look sexy. Any Ideas. I see loads of improvements that need to be made in this image, this is the first attempt with mimimum cleanup.
The head was lit underneath with a snooted blue gelled strobe. The head is sitting on a sheet of clear glass, and the background is a sheet of translucent white acrylic with a magenta gelled striplight strobe aiming down from the top, and behind. There is a 6 foot halfdome on the left aimed at the head with a black foamcorer gobo close to the head against the background to keep the white light from spilling onto the background.
This is a pretty tricky shot due to reflections at odd angles, gelled lights and a dark product.
What would you guys do next to make this a real shot?
A 6' box? That's for full-length shots, you could use a much smaller one here. Aside from that: the blue, the purple, and the white reflection of the box totally dominate the picture. Since the product itself is dark, I would try everything else light-colored. And then light the phones themselves, not the head.
Well, I'm no bottle expert here, however; if I had the chance to shoot something like this in the studio, I would have filled the glass head up with something if possible. Lets say like colored water, tissue paper, marbles, etc.. I don't know if the head is sealed or not. It looks as though it is from your picture.
