You truly have a way of capturing "city life" Chris. I love how you capture your subjects in b&w. Another truly outstanding image.

It's really nothing hard. I saw the guy aproaching. He was about a 150 yards away. First I figured what photos I want to take, ran accross the street with my Sekonic 508 and measured ambient light there, then I checked the light back where I was before and stood around the corner waiting. There was a store with big windows on the corner so I was able to see him coming trough two corner windows. I got one shot (confidential 1) in focus with 1/8s. and f4. The second shot was measured at I think 8, but since there was a lot of street lights behind the subject I decided to go one stop down and slightly out of focus to achieve "sinking in the light" effect. The first photo I followed the subject with the camera. The second I held it steady (reasonably steady- it was 1/8s.:)

Great shot; I always wanted to do something like this. How are you determining exposure?

:) No I haven't listened to the show, but is sounds good. Do they still run it? Dave, I do not use anything. I put the subject a little out of focus and develop it with D11 to achieve higher grain and contrast. Sharpening also helped since I scanned it from a negative. Well... I think falling snow was also helpful:) I shot this two nights ago Downtown Chicago aroung 10PM. I hate winter and the cold weather, but decided to do it at least a few times this season.

This one has a 'Humphrey Bogart' tone. Are you shooting through a pane of wet glass?

Ever listen to "Night Beat" on the radio? It was a cool old radio show with a gravelly voiced newspaper reporter relating all the sordid life happening after hours in New York. And at the end of the story he would yell, "copy boy". And then walk away. This is great. Love the story going on here.
