hehehe...your "very political photog" is here! ;> Interesting choice for my tribute,Thilo...yes,i would have shot this had i been there! Then i would found a local to "get the skinny" of what was behind it...the view looks fantastic and i suspect is a popular area...perhaps there are some environmental concerns as people don't always abide by the common sense rule of "Tread lightly", or my fave, "Leave a place better than you found it"....haha,now i am getting "political" on your image!... Thank you,my friend, for this tribute image and i am taking it to favorites for safe keeping...so sweet of you to say the kind words in your about,Thilo.....you have inspired me to copy your idea of friend tribute images,so stay tuned for mine!.....hugs,gayle

An interesting controversy dear Thilo. I've always been very good at riding fences and what even makes things more difficult for me is the fact that I've always been able to see both sides. Now try to make a decision, it makes it very hard. Tourists are necessary for the economy, but they do at times make it difficult for the residents...a double edged sword as they say...as for your image, the colors and clarity are wonderful even with the haze over the mountains in the background...I may have been tempted to take a bit more off of the right side to give them a bigger space to look into, but I'm not sure what's over there on the left, maybe it wasn't as interesting. I don't always believe that we have to follow 'the rules' especially when it comes to art..and the expression of art. Really a nice image with a perfect dof, and a lovely tribute to Gayle too...best wishes to you my friend...Linda

I do not know specific problem of that zone Thilo, but one reason (very clear to understand) could also be that with touristic increase some natural feel of the place could be lost, see hotels and all commodities for urbanization in wild areas; I suppose with this in mind one can easily understand that one hand gives you food the other corrupt your living place

I find this very engaging and witty--more amusing than dramatic. The color is especially effective. BTW--I think the sentiment is universal--this love/hate attitude towards tourists. Here, we sneer at "snowbirds," people who visit to escape cold climes. In New England, they denigrate "leaf-peepers," visitors who come to see the fall colors. In all these cases, though, as you suggest, there would be great consternation if the tourists didn't come. Then, perhaps, in addition to the loss of income, we would have also lost something to complain about. Ah, the strange and wonderful human animal! Best regards, --George

Hi Thilo! Very well spotted! Spain has obviously had too many tourists :) Is there a globe on the red t-shirt? In that case, even better! A great tribute, Gayle HAS a heart and a soul, indeed :)

Hi Thilo, An interesting political statement. As you hint, it is a little ironic that the people who are supposedly trying to save the area sometimes contribute to the ruin. I came across a similar situation a few weeks ago when kayaking with my brother. We were out in the middle of nowhere when we came across a beautiful rocky island. There was one cabin on the island and the owner had painted "No Trespassing" and "No Camping" signs right on the beautiful rocks, inside two metre circles. Some people just don't have a clue what they are doing. Andre

Hi Thilo,
Activists are radical and have in my opinion impaired judgement... Maybe, they want to control the environment pollution... Having many visitors leads to garbage, destruction, etc... Try to control this... Do not destroy the economy... Now in my must Humble opion... In B&W, I think it should be astonishingly dramatic...
Cheers,
MaLuisa Wonderful composition my dear friend... and quite a story... The colors are wonderful and the image incredibly sharp with great textures...
