........water in man made resevoirs never actually, quite, looks as if it belongs there, it encroaches, it has dead trees sticking out of it, illegal fishers tie there set lines to these and retire to the camp fire and get on the grog.........some get so pissed they fall in the fire, then into bed and a fitful kind of sleep......meanwhile the poor bloody fish just hangs there until old mate comes for him.....silly really!
Hi David, this is a moody image, I like the tones and the tall grasses poking their heads up through the water...I don't really understand all of the reservoir stuff, but I sure do like your image...the light and patterns on the water are really nice...very well done...Linda
Very moody shot David (as is the info!). To a certain extent I agree - a manmade reservoir will never be like the real thing. However, I can take you to many of them (in South Africa at least) where they are properly managed and where a wonderful, functioning ecosystem developed over many years, providing habitat for many fish, insects, amphibians, reptiles, birds (waders, ducks, herons, fish eagles etc.) and even mammals like the otter.
