About This is fom the valley that Steve Bowden and I visited on Sunday - a shot of the stream with a little extra saturation added.

All the colours are as-is - just boosted ever so slightly!

Cheers Lori - it is me, Steve and I have had many outngs over this last year and they are usually great fun... especially when he falls over and gets soaking wet!

cheers for the comment - there were endless opportunities for watr shots that day, and the light is pretty much natural - just upped the saturation a bit to bring the gold out

Cheers

Thanks for the comment Ann.

I started using filters by accident really - I saw a COKIN Infra Red filter in Jessop's once and bought it. It was a square peice of plastic, so I had to buy the holder for it and a thing to attach it to my lens.

You get a booklet with the filter holder - so I read on and started to get interested.....

now I've got a couple of filter holders and several filters and use them on most shots - anything where a fast shutter isn't needed.

For your water shots, I'd recommend using a polariser as that can get rid of reflections on the rocks and water - you'll see straight to the bottom of the stream and get colourful stones in tehre.

To get the bright bits to stop burning to white, I use Grad filters - they are 1/2 dark and 1/2 clear. You put the dark bit on the brightparts and leav the rest clear. Amazing what difference they make.

Buy "Cokin P" as they fit lenses up to 82mm filter thread.

hope that helps

Ade

Hi Cristina,

no flash on this shot - just a long exposure on a tripod was all taht it took

Cheers

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Just an awesomely gorgeous image Ade, and so very well deserving of the dual awards...love the slow shutter speed effects on the water...I read your very interesting and informative bio, and have a question about the filters, do you use the polarizer and the grad filter together? I know that's what you said, but when I've done that I haven't cared for the quality of the image, maybe I need to get better filters...can you elaborate on that, and thank you in advance...excellent image and congrats on the awards Ade..Linda

Stunning capture, a bit overboard on the yellow cast (Just My Opinion) but overall the composition is awesome. Warm congrats on the BIP award, kind regards.

Footnote....I just read your Bio and all the info I wanted was in there. Thank you for making all your techniques public in your bio. It helps us all to improve and saves you a bunch of time to rewrite it every time someone asks.

Your portfolio is outstanding. Cheers - Ann :)

This is breathtaking. I'm going to try shooting some RAW shots. WOW!!! Ade...I've been playing with waterfall shots lately and I'm wondering how you can do 5 sec exposures without getting the rest of your image overexposed? You always have so much colour all the way through your images. All very beautiful. I'm about ready to dive in this one. It almost looks like liquid caramel to me. I had to use artistic licence cause I don't drink bere. :) Cheers - Ann :)

Well Ade there I was thinking of a romantic theme, now an 'Ode to Stella' is one thing - but puts an entirely different slant on it to add the 'Artois' LOL. Check out my upload 'Book for a Smile' [I think that's what I called it] changed the name in the text to Den [from Les] Thompson and found an awful shot of Den to add to the picture - no one has given him a hard time yet!!!!! :)

ade mcfade   {K:12388} 10/20/2005
I often find liquid gold..... in a pint glsss!

Never been Photographer of the day before!

As Marky said, it's basically an ode to Stella Artois :0
