Paul, after all the great comments you have been throwing my way, I started browsing your port.. Congrats on winning the photo contest and launching your obsession..

I am very much into feeling drawn into an image and this pulls me in at warp speed.. Having lived on a farm, I remember going through the coups and seeing a shorter version of this.. The capture and the inclusion of the subject make this a 7 in my books..

I was going to include the name of the painting, but the painter decided to leave it 'untitled'.

This is a unique view, and of course the observer adds to the drama. It would be appropriate to acknowledge the author of the painting as well, since this is a reproduction of a work of art.

Certainly a timely mural. Makes you think.

I'm a software marketing manager, which takes me to numerous trade shows each year (going to Washington D.C. next week), but my Minneapolis visit was chillin' as convention spouse, whilst my lovely wife attended a museums marketing conference at the Walker.

Thanks for visiting and the warm comments, Larry.

Paul, looks like you spent your time wisely in Minneapolis, I just visited the Weisman this weekend and regretted not bringing in my camera, did you like the Russian art? Paul, what do you do that brings you to many far flung locales?

Thanks for the reply, Paul. I was an early adopter of digital--Nikon. But having to read a large manual in order to use the camera was a large turn-off for me, used to manual cameras where I hardly have to think before making the necessary adjustments. So now the Nikon sits forever on the shelf while I go out having fun with my manual cameras!

Yeah, most amazing was this was a candid moment.
She stopped dead center at first, but I knew it wasn't right....then she took a couple steps to the left and stopped again. RIGHT where I would have had her stand as my model, since the lines intersect right into her waist.

Oh, yeah, I'm DIGGIN' my 20D. Goes with me everywhere...and has never let me down.
Of course, there's been those stoopid moments when I go to snap a decisivie moment, only to realize I had dialed in the 10-second self-timer. Heck, it wasn't until yesterday that I finally realized that pressing the DRIVE-ISO button cancels the count-down.

Hi Paul. Maybe avian flue is the chickens striking back for all those broiler houses we humans keep them in? I don't know how you created this image but it's strikingly effective. Oh, no, I DO see. It's a painting, with a woman standing in front of it! I see you are enjoying your Canon 20D!

Dude, major eye candy. Really good one here - should be on the front page. Everything works. Great job, Mark I'm giving a 7 (hope it doesnt go down - you know, i'll skip the rating, don't want it to go from 6 to 5.9 with my 7 . Don't get it but it happens all the time) Mark

On the chance of dodging another pandemic, Kevin, the trend is NOT our friend. :(

Here's to hoping it won't happen for another year or two, to allow the world to further prepare.

My shots of the exterior are less than exciting, due to the clouds, which cast the steel plates into a monotone grey. :( I'll post one of them anyway, Neal.

I enjoyed my visit, and thanks again for your hospitality!

Paul Lara Paul Lara   {K:88111} 11/6/2005
No, my vacation is over, but I'm still on the road.
Milwaukee-Chicago-Milwaukee for the next couple days, and then finally home Wednesday. I got a few more cool shots in Minneapolis, but an opressive cloud-cover wanted to snow on my parade. I'll post some of those shots today (since I'm twiddling my thumbs for most of the day).

I was honestly floored at this massive painting, and thinking about how crowded conditions are setting us up for another pandemic, when this woman stopped to look at it. My first shot was of her standing dead center, and then she thankfully moved over, sensing her need to fulfill the universal rule-of-thirds law. I took another shot of her, and when she heard my 20D, she looked, back, then apologetically scooted 'out of the way'. I smiled and told her I already had the shot I wanted.

Enjoyed my stay, Luke, but I was bummed at the heavy cloud cover that dogged my trip. Now, I'm gearing up for work-related projects in Chicago tomorrow, and Milwaukee Tuesday, then finally home Wednesday.

You were at the Weismann. For a minute I thought you might have gone to a turkey farm, but I remember this painting. Amazing capture of it and interesting perspective for a 2-dimensional object that you took a photo of. Excellent...how do you like Minneapolis so far?
