?extravagant? borders often compete AND detract from the enclosed image and only rarely, as you show in the series, do they complement the work. Hansi? right with the ?thick black? association, but this is not a negative if it doesn?t fit with your marketing objectives ? tapping into the multi-billion $$$ funeral industry could be very sweet . The work is obviously strong Gayle and like others said the commercial appeal is evident. How to package the thing is the thing?

Hi Gayle, I had to drop by to say congrats on the front page for featured critique for Susie's photo. I thought I'd put my congrats on this photo because this one is my favourite of the series. I think a pack of 5 would be better than 10. It's less committal for the consumer.

Yup. It's certainly saleable. Interesting how you got the 3D sensation. It really looks like there's a lot of relief to the image. I think the black border makes the colors appear richer. When do you want my credit card number :)

Absolutely a commercial potential in those, Gayle. This one has got great texture and color. The border color is my only concern here - thick black makes me associate to death, grief and funerals etc. But the image would sit equally well on off-white or the like. /H

Yes, it looks to me like a piece of cloth with the way you have done the edges, but I think it might be even better with a softer background colour, or maybe just white.

This looks like a tapestry, Gayle! I love this one! It looks like it should be hanging on a wall or covering a chair, but I would also purchase it on a greeting card! Love It!!!

Gayle, I'd love to show you but I was in Australia at the time and everything from those years is all back there. All I have here is what I've acquired since I've been here. I can tell you that back then I really enjoyed photgraphing our unique aussie lizards. The make great subjects because they are full of interesting shapes, colours and textures and they didn't move at all while I took their photo. Anyway...I took one of these lizard shots and put a santa cap on him and did some Merry Christmas text on it - landscape orientation with top fold. Sent them out to my family and friends for Xmas cards. Was a big hit and a chuckle. I really enjoyed that project.
Thanks for all your comments on my images. Please don't feel that you have to reply to all my images just cause I'm so wordy on yours. I can talk under wet cement and I have the time to do so. :)

This worked out really nice Gayle, The colors go togethere well and I like the embossed look giving it a pressed fabric texture, it would definitely be a buy! Cary

ok,i understand what you are saying now..LOL..i agree with the top fold...i used to make art cards (mixed media/non-photo) a couple of years ago with intention to sell,but ended up sending to others when event presented itself....i like the landscape format with top fold,too.....yep,we agree ;> would love to see your card designs...

The thumbnail absolutely does not do justice to this image Gayle. It's very pretty. As a greeting card...yes! Probably blank inside. Another great addition to the vintage series.

My suggestion would be if you afre going to go with landscape then go topfold. I don't know about other people but I find horizontal folds with landscape too wide. I personally prefer top fold if the card is wide. Just my opinion. I used to make cards for friends. Never sold them but I did make a Christmas series once and they were landscape top fold. To me it seems more natural to open from the top than a wide side opening. Again just my opinion. Cheers - Ann :)

hi, per orientation,i go with the original format of the image...horizontal(or landscape) format seems to fit because of the space needed by the one extended cyclamen going to left as viewed...thanks again for your good eye feedback!

Oh my, Gayle, this is gorgeous. It looks like embossed cloth on a black backing board. How very creative and artistic. Definitely very marketable. At least I personally would certainly buy it. It reminds me of fine Japanese art of sorts. So very delicate. The colours are beautiful and textures are so very real. Yes I like it very much. I do think you would have to go with portrait orientation for this one so you may need to resize to suit but that's just my opinion. I'm sure you've taken orientation into consideration....right? :) This series would also suit top fold too. Food for thought. Great series evolving and I love them. Cheers - Ann :)

hi, black makes it show up better on UF....for actual card,maybe one of the colors in the image,or simple linen...black today is often seen as modern,dramatic or a fine art element,but depends on where marketed perhaps...
