About The Double Island Point Lighthouse has been operating since its completion in 1884. Because of the Great Barrier Reef it was necessary to construct lights at regular intervals on this coastline to guide vessels through these treacherous waters. In 1992 the light was converted to solar power and demanned.

I know everyone shoots lighthouses but this was the first time I did, so be good to me :)

Peta beautiful colors. I love lighthouses and yes many may have done the lighthouse shot before but with the other interesting aspects of this photograph like the sky and the perspective of your composition, makes this a great photograph
My regards,
Garold

Wow - what a fantastic image. One of my photographic ambitions is to take a really good lighthouse image.

I'd have been quite proud for it to have been this one.

Thanks Peta. I really should give RAW a go. I appreciate the information you provided.

I've been so busy with so much going on. I'll try to suprise you again soon. I peek in once in awhile to see what you have been up too. :)

how interesting Rick, you kmow I havent heard from you since this same day last year! haha

well glad this shot caught your eye.

I always shoot RAW. This was just handheld. Maybe the difference is how I've set up the parameters...I've got the contrast, saturation and sharpness all up one notch and shoot in that 'set' always. I've got a couple of other 20D people to do that and they noticed a huge improvement. Hope it helps you too.

Look forward to hearing from you in another 12 months :))

WOW this is so amazing Peta. I too have a 20D and have yet to crank out this detail. Can you explain your setup? What shooting mode? RAW? Tripod? Outstanding shot Peta!

Thanks Sam, hard to get more shorline as it was way way down the hill. There were workmen up there and all their cars around too, so tight was my only option :) Glad you like it.

Fantastic Cpature Peta, The clairity of the Lighthouse and sky are out of this world!
I would have loved to se this in a more Panoramic format. Maybe with the Lighthouse positioned on the right with more shoreline and sky. I don't know if you have a shot like that but I would love to see it if you have it!
Best Regards my Friend!

I wish... (the everyone shoots lighthouses part..), but it's more than 200 km to the sea from where I live and then you have to find one... ;-D!!! But everytime I see one on a photo I go: I wish.... Beautiful colors, love the close-up view and angle, excellent composition... well done!!! BTW Jason only thinks the horizon is tilted... but it's just the wide angle effect.... or he forgot to look at the little piece on the right... LOL!!!

I there Peta.
Usually you like to shot another kind of "landscapes" still I have to admit you are skilled also in traditional.
I like the compo and rhe sharpness of this shot and also your explanation in about.
Clouds in the sky (and lens choice) to are the crowing touch for a strong visual impact.

My best compliments
Paolo

questa piacerà da morire a mio padre..ama i fari e ne ha una collezione incredibile, di miniature, calendari e libri fotografici..
Questo non sfigurerebbe, soprattutto considerando che è la prima volta che ne ritrai uno..
