Hi Thilo,
What you say about the digital revolution in photography is true. Many more people are able to have their work displayed now. I think that the quality here at this site is very high in general. When you consider how many images are posted during a day. I bet at least 85% are coming from people who have a decent photography background and are quite confident with their posts. Even with digital, some people will still never get into photography as art.
I think I came to visit this place for a couple of weeks before I decided to start posting. It's a great place for people to come and visit, even if they don't participate.

Hi Andre,

your last assumption is interesting and true! The digital revolution brings masses and masses of people to do photography and to post it online. And it's always difficult to shine within the mass.

Your community work here is great and should be an example for everybody here.

Hi Thilo,
Sometimes I have to wonder how the selection committee works. I am often amazed at some of the fantastic work by some people that just goes by in a flash and sits in their portfolios with 22 views or so. I could name several, but one who comes ot mind is Yuri Bonder. You just mentioned Magnus. He is another good example. Of course he gets a lot of views on some of his images, but others are very worthy of more views and comments, but they just sit there.
Personally I think I do allright in the views and comments dept. I also thing that you have to play the game to a certain extent to get comments. Obviously, if we carry on conversations with like minded people, we can easily get more comments, but I don't think that is the point of this group 100% . But it is part of the enjoyment.
Sometimes I think that Karsh, Ansel Adams or Steichen could post here and not get many views or comments, simpley because their images might not show up too well in the thumbnails. :)
Take care.
Andre

Hi Linda,

you're the first one who sees the unnatural in this image. First, I thought about flipping the image so you can read the sign horizontally. but then I thought it's a better idea to post the image in the original perspective.

thanks for your eyes!

Hi Andre,

My guess is that I'm not "cool enough" at the moment for the UF guys ;-)

The decreasing interest in the last weeks reminds me of the situation I had some months ago. Well, I'm in a better position at the moment than the last time so I stay tuned here and wait for more reponse from other guys. You are a great help in these days.

best wishes,
Thilo

Stop the insanity, hahaha...ok I stole that line! This is great Thilo it's almost an optical illusion. I didn't realize at first that the diagonal line was a vertical building, a very interesting perspective, excellent work, nice tones and composition. Darn I just recently started to think about myself too, hahaha, just kidding, I like your sign..good work!

Hi Thilo,
The classic B&W tones are just exactly the way I would strive for them to be when printing in the darkroom. Just the right amount of black, the right amount of white and a perfect blend and variety in the greyscale!
Excellent B&W work! Could be an award winner?

STOP WORRYING, it is unhealthy and an unproductive, useless state of mind.
