For my taste, there's a bit too much empty sky - although this would make a great cover for a children's or family magazine (in which case, the empty sky is perfect). Wonderful color, great pose, and the shadows on the sand really caps it off. Great image - Bob T.

I really love this photo!! When i first saw this photo i thougth of what i saw it as; And what i saw as was, a father showing his son the world. Almost like taking him on a journey into the world! I thought that the reason you made the sky so large was because, the son was so small and that's what the world looks like when you first start out!! This picture really spoke to me. I hope to see more pictures like this in the near future!!!:)

Oh for a better resolution screen and image. My laptop screen cannot do justice to this fine work. The luminescent quality of the light is perfect for this moving silhouette of man and boy. The deepening purple of the sky suggests twilight changing into night. The strong sidelighting has made the ripples in the sand really stand out. I can almost hear the sea gently breaking on the sand and the small whitecaps are a witness to its movement. An evocative and timeless picture that looks superb! Inspirational work Don. Thank you.

Don, I agree with all the comments. This is definately one heck of a great shot!!! The light is like magic in this photo. I love the way the reflection off the sun creates a kind of path at the bottom of the photo which leads the viewer right into the subject of the photo. Outstanding work!! Was this an accident or did you literally envision this image and then create it on film? Please post more of these if you have more in the series....... excellent, just excellent!! :)

If there was one thing I would change, it would be the vertical crop. It's hard to do without losing some of that awesome sunset but cropping a bit further down to create more of a "rectangular/horizontal" image would be interesting.
