Gayle -
This is a great shot - The lighting, perspective, and composition all work, but more than that, this image elicits the imagination of the viewer, provoking diverse memories and speculations. I appreciate your kind comments on my lacewing picture.
Best regards,
David Millard

This is a wonderful image, very dynamic and full of life, in contrast to many far too static sunset pictures. Thank you for your kind comments about my damselfly image, and welcome to Usefilm!
Best regards,
David

Wonderful image - I think the slight haze on the glass adds to the impact, otherwise the bug would appear suspended in air -

David

Beautiful image! One additional possibility would be focusing on the moon, for the first of a two-part exposure, then waiting until the moon had traveled out of the frame, and refocusing on the lit cypress tree.
Best regards,
David

Impressive image! I've also tried my hand at this, with variable results, using a MaxaMillion flashlight and battery pack to light up any foreground structures, but since 9/11 I'm hesitant to go lighting up buildings at night for fear of being arrested!
Best regards,
David

Thanks for the praise Jorg! You have a very impressive portfolio yourself. I would be happy to help ID some of your images, but there are so many tropical butterflies that could trounce my limited knowledge with their mimicry.

David

Thanks Jorg - This was taken in the wild. These birds are now restricted to forests at the higher elevations on all the major Hawaiian Islands.

p.s. when I have a few moments, I'm going to do a comprehensive tour of your food photos - they look delicious!
