Hi Gayle,
great to hear from you again. Long time, no see :)
My two (!) girls are 4 and 6 now and I spent most of my spare time with them - they grow old too fast and you have to enjoy the precious until they are typical teenager :-) And how about you?
I hope to see some folks from the past here, too. Let's wait and see. =)

Hi Thilo.
Yeah, just when I get myself a D200, (which I am very happy with) along you come with a D700 to make me want more. :)
I know they are fantastic cameras. There are a lot of times I could use that kind of ISO with good quality. The D200 is great in good light. But when it gets dull out and you need a high shutter speed for wildlife or night sports, sometimes you just can't get the shot without losing quality.

Hi Andre,
Oh boy, it was worth the posting just to see you again. :-)
The D700 is a fine piece of hardware, and the ISO performance is just awesome compared to my "old" D200. The difference is three to four times in quality. Even ISO 2500 is acceptable.
And yes, it took me some shots here as I had to hold the cam with one arm. =)

I hope you post a few more.
I see you have a nice new piece of equipment. D700. Wow!!
The light seems balanced nicely throughout the image. I bet you took a few more at different shutter speeds and iso numbers. I've heard the D700 produces much less noise at 1600 and more. It's nice to have that option sometimes.

Thanks for your thoughtful reply. In fact, a lot of people here move around, some of them are at Facebook now which is nice because I find a lot of old friends there.
Usefilm hasn't changed since I stopped my regular postings. The site is slow, and the problems stay the same. I will check some of your pictures, rest assured.

wow!!!! you're an excellent photographer....i read your thoughts on another one of your portraits (the flat iron building) i dont have 1/8 of your talent, although i also felt that the greatest thing about this site is that; strangers, an friends, view an take the time to give constructive criticism an praise. my talents don't allow me much in the way of criticism to other artist as yet, because i'm still trying to learn my passion, but i praise the portraits i like.......BUT my problem is from the other artist talented as yourself (in my position have an obligation to criticise an praise the hopeful an eager, aspiring future of the art form.) there are alot of people who are self taught (my self included) who use this site to help hone their skills by great artist like you an others. i've posted pictures an very little attention in regards to criticism...so i became a donor an just about the same reaction so i'm no longer a donor(falling out of love so to speak) but i still post from time to time hoping that participation would change it hasn't so i might just move on as well.....although i'm certain i wouldnt be missed like some one with your talent. (this is not me fishing for undue attention but on the other hand is it not what this site was fore in the first place!) my regards to you, as i've already said, great work in whatever you decide i hope our paths will cross again one day.....best wishes ray t. riley.
