It was actually taken for an art project in which I would expand the picture by drawing the rest of the scene. Thanks for the tips. I know there is a bit much sky, but I couldn't get more canal as there was the bridge rail in the way.

nice place it is,and you've chosen an appropriate time of day to shoot it. composition is ok but it might improve by including more of the canal and less of the sky. if your intention was just to record the scene then its a decent photograph. keep shooting and think creatively ;-)
