Likely a small Tachnid fly variety "assembled" by focus stacking 6 frames. I could have used at least one more frame centered on the thorax, which is a little soft here. The problem is that the process is not all that controllable when handholding. If camera were mounted on a tripod, the process would be too intrusive and slow to make any shots at all. In this stack, I refrained from paralleling the subject, otherwise, a good technique which guarantees a better focused field. However, this oblique view makes for a more interesting composition while greatly increasing the difficulty of getting focus coverage with the stack of images. Magnification would be about 5:1, (3:1 is native and the increase is due to the crop.)
