It's a wonderful composition, perfect clarity and details, also nice with the black background to the red flowers. Perhaps those light dots could be "painted over"? I love this sunlight on it by the way, it's so golden and beautiful! And... hihi... I think I know the "secret", why you are interested in reactions. Is it that you wonder how many comments you get for a flower shot that is quite easy to take, while a really difficult perfect animal capture usually gets so little comments? Because I have noticed that too, and I really wonder why. Personally I LOVE animal photos if the quality is good, and you always have fantastic quality!

I love your use of the negative space to create a splendid composition. My only and humble suggestion would be to go all the way and clone-out the distracting background highlights in PS to make the background a uniform shade of black. Excellent.

Jim, I like the framing of them, I like the almost black bg, the lighting and the colour saturation. I think if it was mine I'd crop out the tall thin seedheaded poppy to the right of the left main poppy, I feel it's head is in shade and doesn't add to much to the picture, but that's just my preference, well done - Richard.

Excellent lighting. I think I would have worked on the flower on the left with the light coming throught the petals and make it into a vertical panel. The way it is it is divided interest. The eye keeps going from one to the other. Don.

........another alternative? crop on all sides and go for a square image?-- looks to me like that could work too.

Very very nice, Jim! Nice lighting to catch the subtle nuances of color shades within the poppies, and good composition as well. Good job!

Well Jim, I've shot about 10,000 wild flower pictures, and although I think this is a domestic poppy, I like it very much. In fact, this is "my kind" of picture. The lighting on the blossoms is excellent and the black background appeals to me (but apparently not to everyone else), so on balance, I like it very much. The tall stems add a unniqueness (is that a word?). I might be tempted to crop it on both left and right sides (mainly left) to emphsaze the tall thin character, and I think I'd get rid of the small highlights. Nice!
