A swan shot again. I had this up the other day but deleted it by mistake from my portfolio (still learning how to use it!). Basically, the shot was done by pre-focussing on a point on the swan and then moving ahead of it so as to capture the image when the swan swam into the frame. This way, I didn't have to "pan" the camera (is that the correct term?) 'cause those swans were moving a lot faster than they appeared to be.
The colour of the water and the way the white of the swan cuts it is superb. It makes a beautifull composition. Maybe the body of the swan is a little burnt but the overall is very nice. The formal compositions work best with high contrast.
Have you tried panning also? Although I like the detail in the water I think this would look great with a blured blue background. And that way you would have captured is speed and elegance while swimming.
Hi Den, thanks for the compliment and the adjustments made. I'm not sure really how to use photoshop for selecting sections only. I guess I'll learn by trial and error! As for the photo itself, I kind of knew it would burn out as the sun was coming in from left and really lighting up the swans, while i suppose the metering system was compensating for the darkness of the water. Again, thanks.

Another lovely swan shot Daithi but the body white a little burnt out. Have done a quick adjustment in PS as attached. All I've done is select colour with magic wand and adjusted levels. Hope you don't mind!
