About This image began as a colour transparency. It lacked impact as the colours were not very well saturated or interesting and the sky was weak. After scanning I used the Channel Mixer in Photoshop to render it as a monochrome, using the Source Channel sliders to obtain the richest possible range of tones. I then duplicated this and made the copy layer invisible. Going back to the base layer I used Curves to create a bluish tint. I then went back to the copy layer and used the Curves control again to produce a sepia tint. I next double clicked on the top layer to bring up Layer Options and used the sliders to blend the two tinted images together.
