Hi Jon,
Thanks for your critique. I certainly agree about the crop...just that I had cropped it for 8x10 print...hence ended w/ more space on the right.
I will definitely try to get more info about my subjects next time...never thought of it...always have been more interested in the primary subject.
I will try some more crops of this image and upload them.

Nicely toned. I would have done something about the highlights, which I think are too bright, particularly in the wall in behind. Also - and I realize this is likely something you couldn't fix - the [child's?] figure toward which the woman is reaching is obscured by branches to the point where I did not in fact realize that it was there at first! I think you could have cropped this a bit tighter (playing with cropping, there are in fact several potential photographs in this scene, but generally I think you could have come in tighter on the main set of figures and the figure in bottom left). I wouldn't have minded some explanation of the original in the "about" - what is the name and background of the piece? Knowing these things would have helped me to understand the message of the photograph itself. Last but not least, I think the title could have been more interesting.

Phew... I believe I'll all critiqued out! A nice pic, withal.
