Beautiful shot!! The birds just seem to pose for your camera. Awesome color and detail. Love the pose. I can just envision the spreading of the wings as he is flying. Nice work

well,i can see your hawk, even tho' others can't!...i like the position within framing of the shot, and the peeks of tree tops add that natural environ touch...i like the rusty color with the B/W on the feathers...

now, wazzup with you posting showboating pics of yourself with cam as attachments in serious forum threads???...LOL...can't imagine why you would lose interest in posting here (wink da wink)hehehe

peace out,gayle

LMAO! Ok . . . I'll up the prescription and you're likely right. It occurs to me now that I usually see your stuff on my own high resolution monitor and - though I don't recall - I'm thinking now it might be looking at the shot on this clunky dinosaur monitor in my office that makes a difference . . . ! Already looks like NASA mission control in my office with several monitors and my laptop sprawling all around - :) Normally, I never evaluate exposure when I'm on this monitor but I'm thinking the high res matters too . . .

NOW - Don't mock me with that oversharpened image you threatened sonny boy! Respect your elders!! You know there IS a significant difference between printed and monitor versions too . . . I've even noted subtle color shifts.

Take care . . . I'll come knock on your door with my cane some day and we'll go shoot some birds!!

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

HI, Doyle, I actually think you need to up the prescption:) Joking, the back leg is shadowed behind the front, As for the sharpness I do remember you saying that once before, I do struggle with keeping it real and the super sharp photo that most love to see though far from natural, this was one I sent in to birders world mag and they emailed me back and said lay off the sharpness, I think professionly printed versions of photos come out sharper then screen res versions, but thanks for the honest critique, its nice to get one now and then.
I will sharpen the holy crap out of my next post just for you LOL.. should I decided to post again..
Take care Big D...

Wow Marcus . . .
Well . . . swimming against the current I guess; but unless it's my old fogie bifocals needin' a wipe down this seems a tad soft compared to your usual work. Haven't seen these bad boys down here . . . The color is rich and (well) saturated . . . and . . . uhhhh . . . is this guy sporting just one foot or what???

Now, don't get me wrong, it's a great picture . . . I attached the image I probably would have captured if I were there with you shooting the same bird! Overall, it's a great image and most people would be thrilled to have it, myself included. :)

Regards,
Doyle I <~~~~~

Love everything about your hawk image here. I almost got my first hawk photo, but not the quality I was looking for. The ones around here play with your mind. Either too fast, or there when your not ready. LOL

Hi Marcus,
You always get such great light underneath your hawks. There must be a trick to your positioning. Why is it that I always see them in silhouette? :)

I don't blame you for heading for these guys when you can get shots like this, Marcus! Beautiful capture, and I like the composition, with the foliage in the background.

Marcus,

Superb detail and colors in this shot. We have the Red-shouldered Hawk in this area, but it is uncommon. We are also out of the migratory path of raptors, so I am forced to drive around for hours just to find some hawks. Capturing them is another story all together. You are fortunate to have such excellent opportunities, and skilled enough to take advantage.
