The following series of 9 photographs are a small sampling of over 400 images taken at a recent exercise in fire fighting. I felt privileged to take the photos and put together a slide shows for the fire fighters involved. The day was miserable with rain and being dark. Mostly I shot at 1600 and 800 ISO. Being unprepared for the constant rain, I resorted to shooting while holding an umbrella in the left hand and managing the camera and lens with the other, (even with the weighty 70-200 VR lens attached!) The picture quality suffered because of the high ISO noise but moderated with software. In some cases I might have been able to resort to a wider lens opening and lower ISO - if I had had another hand!
Sometimes we have to deal with the hands we have, Eb, and you did a great job here! I like this classic of the tired firefighter and the raging background. Excellent composition! Dave.
