I caught these baby kookaburras late one afternoon just sitting up in a huge gum tree on my property. The title is a well known aussie rhyme. "Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, merry merry king of the bush is he, laugh kookaburra laugh, kookaburra gay your life must be."
The kookaburra is famous for it call, that sounds very much like a person laughing. Often they will go off several at a time, creating a real cacophany.
Hi Stan, You're quite right, the focus is high and wide, this was the first frame i clicked off, the camera not quite to my eye. in the next frame, they were gone. I hadn't thought to compare them to a nut cracker before - your comment really made me smile. thanks for looking at this one. warm regards, Jac.
I like the composition, the focus is off but still fun to see the birds. Looks like a very strong and compact bird much like a Clark's Nut Cracker that is common in the US.. Be well, Stan
