Dear Martin, Don't feel bad. There are a lot of 'purists' out there, and you are probably one of them. But even Ansel Adams 'manipulated' his photos in the darkroom...quite a bit.

By the way, I have never used the computer to 'change the lighting' in any of my photographs.

Don't be ridiculous, Martin. This is just a negative of the original, which I found to be more interesting, although the positive is lovely, too...don't you think? I am definitely a 'real' photographer, in every sense of the word.

According to Webster’s Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary “Photography” means:
“The art or process producing images on a sensitized surface (as film or CF card) by the action of radiant energy and especially light”
For me, that means “Painting with Light, Digital Style". ;)
I never saw where it said being a graphic artist using PS counted as Photography?
I just can't wrap my mind around totally manipulating a image shooting with film or digital using a computer to get an award?
I have waited hours for the sun to come up to get the correct light for the shot. I have also tricked my camera to get the right light, but never used a computer to get it for me? I do crop, sharpen, resize and change colors, but never totally change the original photo such as this.
Just saying! Don't get me wrong as this is an excellent photo for a magazine, but should it be on a photography site for real photographers?
