Cary, there seems to be two of us? How can that be? Well, I just hope no one looks at me while searching for you, your work is very nice and I wouldn't want to tarnish your rep! I like this B&W very much , can appreciate the difficulty, lots of scenes look good, but are disappointing when trying to shoot them, have fun, Cary

Nice job Cary. I'm not one for landscapes/cityscapes usually but there's something about this one that makes me really like it.

I like the tree on the side of the frame.

Mysterious. I seem to want to go for a slow walk and enjoy a nice evening and yet I also feel like I might want to hurry..Mixed emotions this picture brings to my mind. I like it.

I like the composition here a lot.

Have you read the article here on uploading images? What I do in a nutshell: scan, crop, adjust curves or levels, touch up as necessary with rubber stamp tool, resize to 72dpi and max dimension 450 (height or width whichever is larger, then filter -> sharpen or unsharp mask (whichever looks better), and last but not least save as jpg and choose max quality that keeps image size under 100k.

I'd like to see this shot with a little more lighting. I really like the pose and the composition.

dudes, thanks for the comments.

alot of the problem is my scanning ability. i'm still working on it. the original is sharp. i can't keep it sharp when it uploads. hopefully it'll get there.

plus x is old, but it is a fine grain stock.

i agree with the too dark on the right stuff. i'm going to work on printing it better. i should have used a reflector to brighten it up a little. i actually wanted really hard light for it. i wanted to really bring the texture of the rope out.

dave, it's the same hottie as in my other photos.

thanks for the comments. i've only been doing stills for about a year and a half. the help i get here is huge!

I'm sort of with that James guy... I like the idea. There's some crispness that's lacking to me but that could be the film grain (plux x pan is older style grain no ?) or maybe the focus actually is off.

I tend to like the lighting but maybe just a wee bit more exposure for the right hand side (facing image) would be good.

As for James' comment - "rough rope against the soft skin of a woman" - James, who's to say that this IS a woman ? *smirk*

Cheers,
Dave

I like the idea but the lighting and focus leave a little to be desired. The focus is off. I like this type of image to be tack sharp. And the light is harsh. I think this style image has to have even lighting with soft shadows. Were this a mans hands and feet it wouldn't be so important. Great idea. I love the type of rope used here. Very rought against the soft skin of the women.

and an intersting one at that. i like the lighting and the mood on this one especially how her hands and the rope on the floor are emphasized. 8)

marcus, i'm pretty sure that my problem is my scanning ability. everytime i shrink stuff down small enough to load, it looks like crud. but, i will try the 250 rating and see what happens. i'll let ya know.

Good choice of angle of view...
If you don't mind I'd suggest you to make the model's breast darker a little bit. Maybe the light is too harsh...
Anyway... you hava a good concept in this pic
