the bald eagle always looked rather stupid than bold for me (exactly therefore the idiosyncrasic bird for CIA, NCA, et. alii ) why did the 'founding fathers' chose it? obviously because of its rapacious qualities: the qualities america is built upon (s. extermination of the indigenous peoples, mass slavery of imported africans, etc.) I'd prefer instead much more the peaceful and very tasty turkey!!

Mike, thank you for posting the information about the bald eagle, it was very informative. Thank you also for posting such a nice photo. The look of determination on that eagle's face speaks volumes. I don't think any other bird has that majestic look. I am so glad that our founding fathers decided on that as our national bird instead of the turkey, can you imagine?! Anyway thanks for posting this beautiful image.

Rather nice looking Eagle Mike. I like the space infront of the beak for it to look into, and the plain dark background sets this off really well.
