here is what i was working with. seemed a little busy to me, but black and white would probably work.

This is my first experiment with it. It isn't likely to be done again any time soon, seeing that it really takes the realism and authenticism out of it. I was browsing around photoshop tutorials and found one about gradient blurs, so this was my test. actually, the tutorial taught me a lot about photoshop just by taking all the steps, pretty neat IMO. here's the link in case you are curious

good for someone that is new to the program. anyway, thanks again for the comments and help!

Good timing for the shot, Mark and I like the action; however the blur does not work; somehow it looks like the dancer lost one leg. May be just an illusion with the depth and perspective.
I have been using production CS3 (on an Intel PC with Windows XP) and have found the CS3 and the new Bridge kind of buggy. Some weird things happen including slow loads and n0-loads or Bridge won't start. Happens sporadically so can't put my finger on it yet. Is it working OK for you?

Great shades of the 60's; turn down the lights and wave candles. I like it!

Yes the blur does make it stand out in one way, but in another, because the b/g is dark also, the boys leg tends to disappear into it, in my H.O. ...I am far from being an expert, but it really is worth producing a few different versions to see what you can come up with..from the thumbnail though you can't see that leg very well. I really do the like the shot, and the detail is superb in the dancer. Full credit to you for having the timing to capture something so well. Me, well I would have to practice for ages to get the timing right, lol.
Cheers
Liz.

after viewing it more, i guess it is typical for a beginner to not see that flaw. i would imaging that the blur should be expanding the leg rather than making it bend in?

Great timing to say the least!!1 I would agree with G about the leg and the woman, but I think the rest of the blur is rather effective. All in all it is a good street shot..Nice work :)
Cheers,
Liz.

sorry, i guess i misunderstood. in my opinion, if this guy wasn't very concentric he'd be flat on his face in this shot, lol. i'm gonna give the black and white a go, thanks for the advice!

sorry, not concentricity, but interesting action shot...break-dancer?...pity the woman behind his elevated leg "blends in" rather than "contrasts with" to give separation....otherwise,PS blur isn't too bad...maybe this would work better in B/W...give it a go

gracias, mi amigo! El sujeto llevaba pintura de plata y cinta de conducto. Utilicé cs3 para cambiar los tonos.

thanks! most of the motion was captured, however i did add a motion blur to the felt using cs3. in my opinion it made the jiggle work a little better.

A photography prof told me once the best excercise he'd ever been given was to shoot a roll (36) of film a day for a semester.

I think his point was to shoot, shoot and shoot some more. Once you are done shooting, examine which shots you like the most and why.

Finally with digital film we can try and learn.

thanks for the constructive critisism! i will definitely be thinking more about "the big picture" more as a beginner photographer. i never would have noticed that flaw if it weren't for the time you took to check it out. thanks a lot.
