Fantastic vibrant colors! It's completely abstract and yet you can basically tell what everything is. Was the road wet? I wondered if that was what gave the road those soft washes of color.

I'm always happy to see someone create "special effects" at shutter time as opposed to on the computer, later. You did a great job with this one.

Excellent textures. The converging diagonal lines lead us right to the cat.

Andrew, I'm glad I found came across your portfolio. You show an impressive level of mastery of multiple areas of photography, from fascinating and beautiful photomicrography to stunning landscapes such as this one. The tonal gradation from lower right to upper left is fantastic and the tree at lower right balances the hoodoo wonderfully in the composition. Congrats.

A little blurry, especially noticeable in the face, but does have beautiful rich colors and an interesting expression on the child's face.

Great in B&W! Nice tonality and I like the lines of the photo very much.

Wow! Thank goodness you explained what this was ... I never would've figured it out. Fantastic colors and blobby, swirly shapes -- congrats to you for seeing the opportunity. I don't usually like abstract photos that are this, well, abstract, but this is definitely an exception.

Pretty amazing variety in landscape! Overall I find the image quite appealing, especially because of the light and shadow on the dunes. I'd prefer the sky a little less blown-out on the upper left, and I think the flatter lighting on the background hills is hurting a bit. This view is so interesting, might be worth doing a study at different times of day. Good portfolio, by the way!

You've conveyed an amazing amount of motion in this one. You have a great eye and a unique style with this little series of photos.

Excellent composition with the diagonal lines. And very sweet and natural portrait of the children.

Wonderful warm tones. I like the slight blur in her arm that shows she's actually working, not just posing as a statue. Very painterly, as others have said, and a nice nostalgic feel to it.

It's wonderful to see someone take this kind of time and effort to conceptualize a project and then see it through in such a creative way. This is an inspiration. And some of these photos stand well on their own, independent of the alphabet theme.

Nice color and excellent control of lighting. The egg is a fun surprise which breaks the symmetry and engages my brain ("why an egg? how is it staying there on the rim?" etc.). Thanks for the smile!

Barry, I first became acquainted with your series of paper abstracts elsewhere, and this photo may be my favorite of the bunch. Very innovative, very nice tonality. I just love what you've done with these simple materials.

Beautiful daffodil photo, love the lighting and B&W look. Nice subtle gradation of black to gray in background.

They look like they are waiting expectantly for something or someone! Nice job finding the human content in this flower photo.

This seems very well planned and executed. The gradation is wonderful, the positioning of the boats in the extreme corners of the frame emphasizes the separation of the lone boat, and the contrast of the dark boats on light water and the white boat on dark water is wonderful.

I like the hotspot in the shadow area - it looks like the light has become a laser as it goes through the blue ball. Two suggestions for future experiments on this theme (?): see if there is a way to make the white specular highlights on the ball line up exactly in a straight line (nitpicky!); and see if there is a way to eliminate the white semicircle of light on the surface behind the ball - I think the pic would also be interesting without that semicircle. Very nice!

I do prefer this pic to the other one of the boat (which is also nice!) - this one feels more balanced to me, with the boat right in the sweet spot. How nice that a large body of water was so calm for you that day. Reminds me of my childhood home in New York near the bay.
