[Stuart; seem to be misplaced your email; so I'll answer your question here -- yep, an English shot, taken in your part of the world, but I'm not sure exactly where. Perhaps Southwold or further North at Lowestoft].

As to this photo; I like your B&W shots and this one works well. Perhaps a little less of the brush/grass lower right as the main appeal (for me) are the dialogonal groins (spl?) and shimmering water. Very nice.

I like it. Great colours. It's better for missing someone sitting there.

The figure makes the shot. The tunnel effect is good, but the figure adds depth and interest. I know I'm being picky, but wonder if it would have been further improved by having him a little further back (and hence smaller). Would (maybe) have added to the depth effect. Not sure. Still, great shot.

The boat and reflection are great. Doesn't seem to be as sharp/deailed as it might be though & perhaps too centered. But still, the overall effect is very nice.

Very nice. The colours are great. Lacking a little detail in some areas (perhaps from JPG compression, or cropping in too much?). But that aside, it's a very good shot.

Not sure why more people haven't looked at this. I think the composition works very well. Doesn't have the best detail -- over sharpened? -- and the skies a big noisy. But again, the overall effect is very nice (and an absolutely horizontal horizon to boot).

Very good Stuart -- I like the detail in the centre thingy (excuse my technical lingo). Quite like the DOF effect; gets attention into the middle. Good job.

A good idea, well presented. I like Matej's idea of trying to show the 'old' shot as the pier originally was (ie long) and the modern much more abridged version. That aside, I think that as you have presented works well.

I was there just this last Winter! Anyway; it's a shame that the shadows have overcast the left hand side of the image. The idea is nice; shooting down the moat now snow and not water covered with an imposing castle on the right. But the 'darkness' (a relative term) and slight lack of sharpness (was this a crop of a larger image?) reduce the effectiveness.

Hey Stuart, I'll Usefilm a shot for a while, thanks (although it will be hard to get me off PhotoSig as well!). This one is much better than Ye Old Pier; meaning this one is great. The view down the right hand 'tunnel' is very effective, as was your decision to use B&W. The whites are a little too white -- contrasty -- for my liking, especially on the front/right. But that aside, the shot still worked very well. Nice frame as well; simple yet effective.
