Lovely colours, great sky. I always find the Downs around Wiltshire and Berkshire a bit primeval - a 'thin' place where the past and present, physical and spiritual, aren't as far apart as we think.

I like this picture, it evokes very special memories of my RAF days, driving down from Yorkshire to see my parents in the New Forest. I'd set off mid-morning, and be hitting the new Chievely section of the A34 about this time of day. I used to have a little bet with myself as to whether or not I'd make it home before it was fully dark - the traffic on the M3 from the Downs near Winchester all the way to Ringwood always thwarted me. Happy days, though.

Thanks for sharing this picture.

Sloba, this is a very powerful image, the sort that makes the rest of us feel how lucky we are. I can't say I LIKE it, it makes me feel too uncomofortable, but it works very well.

It may have worked even better with less space above the man's head and his whole body included in the frame, maybe even by stepping back a little and including some of the surrounding context. Black and white would have been very powerful here, too.

That said, you should be proud of this picture.

Lucas,
A very atmospheric shot. As a Brit who's only visited the US twice on courses, I don't know small-town America but this is how I imagine it. That twilight period between the stores closing and the local bar/restaurant opening. It's also evocative of Kerouac's "On The Road", the sort of places you imagine whilst reading the book.

John,
A very atmospheric shot. A good choice of film, colour would have been a distraction. The scenery adds drama too.

Nice one!

Leslie,
I like the tight and angled composition of this picture, which work as a counterpoint to the child's innocence. You could almost believe he was about to do something he shouldn't...

Nice shot!

Marcus,
Thank you for your kind comments. They're particularly gratfying as it's the first time I've posted images on a site with the stature of Usefilm.
