Marcy...this is an excellent capture of emotion..I can hear him thinking..."can I get away with tearing off this flower from it's stem"..the smile on his face is great! Thanks for your comments on my bird images...I must admit, that I shot with one hand on the focus ring..I use the 1 shot focuse mode and then tweek by hand. When I am shooting at the end of the focuse range, I switch to manual focus and rock back and forth until I obtain what appears to be sharpest.
Regards, Bill C.

*Very* cool and a little bit spooky (a la children of the corn A shame that some missed the irony of your title - I think it's perfect! I'm also with those whose agree that the composition and treatment of this image are just right! I like the positioning of the boy at the far right which, as Andre stated so well, further marginalizes him within the environment. The toning and overall dark atmosphere also fit the mood perfectly. As mentioned, a little work is needed on blending the boy a little better (especially around the top of his head,) but otherwise this is an awesome work! Into my favorites it goes...

Great shot! I love the mood in this photo - ominous in a way, but also familiar and 'comfortable.' The shading and vignetting along the edges work beautifully to give this a dynamic feeling. Very good, indeed!

Marcy, I like this image a lot - I'm surprised it hasn't gotten more comments! The sky is wonderful, and the multiple planes give this great depth. It's got a 'Sound of Music' quality to it Thanks so much for your very flattering comments on my work, and I'm really glad to have found your portfolio! Beautiful stuff here - you've got a lot of talent!

I think that mischievous look is hard to capture and you've done a perfect job of this. You can see in his eyes that he is taking much pleasure from taking the "dare". Great shot!

Hi Marcy.
I am so glad that you commented on my pic because now I have found your work!
I spent some time on the Central California Coast about a decade ago and during my long walks on Vandenburg AFB's private beaches I remember feeling as if the ocean had a certain magic to it.
Looking at your work brought those feelings back again!
This pic really stands out, however, all of your work is incredible! I just wish we lived closer so I could hire you to photograph my girls!
I'm going to add you to my friends list if you don't mind. Wonderful stuff!

Very expressive little fella! Very good triptych, I like the intensity and dedication with which he's telling you this story. The middle one would be my favourite, if I had to pick one.

Although each one is slightly different, the three go very well together. The combination of composing the portrait close (leaving out the top of his head) and the use of a landscape format is perfect. I always need to remind myself of capturing enough of the neck and upper body, as that part creates a great deal of the body language, essential to the expression.

Very well done, my compliments!

Cheers,

Hugo
