The photo was taken near St. John's University, which is about an hour or so west of Minneapolis.
As it happens, I was born in SU, but have been living in US for many years.

Great way to achieve the silhouette. For me, it's a little too washed out. Unfortunately I don't know anything about silhouette photography, but I think that this photo is a little too in the middle between full silhouette and washed out direct sunlight. I love the landscape though....
