I know what you mean about being shy about taking pictures of people. You may have noticed that hardly any of my stuff includes people because I just don't want deal with the release form thing. But really, your candid street shots are the greatest. Just a thought.

Thanks, Nanda. Everything came together nicely for this one. The lighting was just right--just dark enough for the lamps inside the shop to show up brightly but bright enough for the maple-leaf colours to have adequate saturation (although to be honest I did give them a bit of help in PhotoShop).

Thanks, Gary! Praise indeed... to answer your question, the thought of a Coffee Table Book never occurred to me! I take more panoramas than anything else, and it is only the purchase of the light, easy-to-use Pentax K-x and its excellent 12-24mm wide-angle zoom that has got me taking more ordinary snaps. I've always been shy of taking people, and never thought I could be any good at candids, so your commnet is very encouraging.

Again with the eye of the beholder. Nice to see you working your majic back in Japan. Have you ever thought of doing a coffee table-top book on Japanese candids?

Nanda, my friend, you are not only the person who comments most frequently on my photos, you are also nearly always very quick. Do you spend most of your time working at a computer and often checking Usefilm? (thanks, by the way, I find it really encouraging).

Thanks, Nando. The difficult bit was getting the tip of the tower into the gap between the leaves while keeping it central and with a nice balance on both sides.

Thanks, Dave. I thought the colours looked a bit over-cooked after I had uploaded them... I recently calibrated my monitor and haven't ironed out the differences it required to my workflow.

A good perspective shot, but also great colour and detail, Roger! An interesting historical perspective as well.
