James,
Absolutely beautiful image. There is a pearlescent quality to the skin. It gives it s very dreamy look. Was the image made for the model's portfolio, Jewelery advertisement, or for Art?
I have been looking to invest in some new lighting what would you suggest? What type of lighting setup do you use to produce that effect?
Beautiful work, Robin

Torstein,
That was the intent of the image. It was created for promotional purposes. I agree that for your normal everyday portraits you would not want your lighting to be evident. I was suprised and pleased that it worked on the first attempt.
Thanks, Robin

If you don't have the option of using a gradient ND filter take two images; one exposed for the sky, one exposed for the foreground and then combine them. I simulated the effect in Photoshop.

E100 scanned with a film scanner. Edited in Photoshop. I still have the wet darkroom but for the last couple of years I have only used it to develop film.
I found a few of your records a couple of weeks ago mixed in with mine. What would you like me to do with them. Some old Beatles, Zepplin. etc.

Mike, Thanks for the suggestions. I do like the image cropped and rotated like this. I need to get TFP copies back to the model for her portfolio she is starting. I may include one edited like this.
Thanks, Robin

Very well done. The colours and lighting of this photograph are magnificent. Again very well done. A favorite.
The Artist and name of the painting that this photograph pays homage to escapes me. Who was the painting done by?

Thank You Galal. I thought the long exposure of the fish made an interesting image. I took a brief look at your portfolio. You have some very beautiful images. I will review more of it later when I have more time.
What are the concrete or stone structures in your image titled "Patterns". It reminds me of concrete structures used in Japan to slow rock slides in the hills and mountains. Take Care, Robin

Evangelos,
Great image. You have the warm lighting making a triangle of light centered over the merchant's head. The merchant is offset to the right so he is not bullseyed in the middle of the frame. You have many great leading lines thru the image. The backlighting has left a few hotspot but in a captured image that could not be helped and it adds some realistic appeal. Any good quiltmaker leaves a few stitches that a imperfect. I would not change a thing.

Marko, Absolutely awesome shot. The impending storm over the horizon really sets a dark mood. Consider dodging the beginning of the path going progressively darker as you go further back into the image for even more impact.
Great image, Robin

Great reflection! Can't wait till the project is completed. I'm glad to see that they have at least some of the welds seams polished out.
It's too bad that they won't have the whole "bean" ground on time for Summer. Oh well, that's Chicago. $8 million cost overruns and late public works projects. Wonder is any of Daley's friends have the contract.

Francesca, Great image! Very professional. Looks like it could be used in a Nike ad. Leaving only the players and the basket in colour and turning the rest of the image into a chalk & charcol drawing worked very nicely. You have a great future in ahead of you. Have a great weekend. Ciao Bella.

I would have prefered a brighter sky as well but that was storm coming in. Especially since within 30 minutes of this photo the storm had moved in and created "Whiteout" conditions so that you could not see more than 20ft in front of you. The storm dumped 3ft of snow before it was done.

I like the highlights on the edges of the fingers. It gives the appearance of a side lighting from the lower right side. Cool effect. Ciao, Robin

David, Nice portrait shot.
I think I remember hearing that when the first Western settlers saw a "Kangaroo" they asked a Aborigine what was the name of the animal. But as the Aborigine didn't speak english his reply was really something like "I have no idea what you are saying" Phonetically "Kangaroo". Any truth to this?

Ranjan, Great shot. I took one like it a couple of years ago. The outside of the museum is as impressive as the inside. The museum's moving wings above this hall are not usually open at night but there was a party for the MLB Allstar game on the Museum grounds a couple of years ago. The Wings were open and they were setting up for the next night's lightshow. I've only posted one image of it but I took 3 or 4 roles of slides while they ran the light test. I'll have to post some more.
