Francesca, Nice combination use of digital filters. (solarization & plastics wrap filters?)
I like the highlights on the edges of the fingers. It gives the appearance of a side lighting from the lower right side. Cool effect. Ciao, Robin

David, Nice portrait shot.
I think I remember hearing that when the first Western settlers saw a "Kangaroo" they asked a Aborigine what was the name of the animal. But as the Aborigine didn't speak english his reply was really something like "I have no idea what you are saying" Phonetically "Kangaroo". Any truth to this?

Ranjan, Great shot. I took one like it a couple of years ago. The outside of the museum is as impressive as the inside. The museum's moving wings above this hall are not usually open at night but there was a party for the MLB Allstar game on the Museum grounds a couple of years ago. The Wings were open and they were setting up for the next night's lightshow. I've only posted one image of it but I took 3 or 4 roles of slides while they ran the light test. I'll have to post some more.

My Grandfather was a WWII vet, he's been gone 15yrs now. I still miss him. Truely the greatest generation. Tell a Vet Thanks before they're gone.
Great effect with the color saturation, it really makes the reds in the image stand out.

Shawn, Cool photos. What type of image software are you using? If you are using Adobe Photoshop or Paintshop look at how to adjust the "Levels". In photoshop elements it is in the Enhance dropdown menu. You want to move the sliders so that they are covering only the areas of the Histogram (graph) that have information. this will help clean up a lot of the noise that you are seeing. Call me and I'll help you out if you need more info. Robin

Hey Shawn, Welcome to Usefilm! I like this image! Looks like you are getting some good constructive comments so far. But have someone take a less intimidating photo of yourself > You look ready to spit nails. ;p I know You have a creative mind, have fun with the photography. Sometimes working with a new medium can inspire creativity in other areas. Have fun, Robin

Thank You for Your comments. I may repost this image as there is much more detail available in the slide. I had used a friends flatbed scanner originally and the resolution was not as good as I had hoped. I have a film scanner now. This was from my first use of Agfa Scala slide film. I think I used an orange filter.
I found the shack in a field in northern Wisconsin. I think that the condition of the shack was just from years of neglect and harsh winters.
I really like your "Simplicity" image.
Thanks again, Robin

Francesca, You have a wonderful creative imagination to create such beautiful images. The edges around the hands are well defined, it gives the hands a 3-dimensional look. Did You layer the hands separate from the bird? A favorite!

Lars, I think that you are being far too critical. It is a beautiful image. I think I like the lighting most. The jewelry and top doesn't really detract noticeably from the image. The top and jewelry has a very similar color tone that seems to blend well with the model and clothes in this lighting.
If there were anything that doesn't draw me into the image as strongly as it could, it would say it would be the model's pose. It seems quite suspicious; like someone just told her something she doesn't quite believe. Perhaps just a slight difference in the tilt of the head would give it more impact.
However, That said, I am an amateur critiquing one with far more talent. Your images are some of the most intriguing on Usefilm. I have looked though your portfolio several times after seeing a new post and each time I am impressed. Beautiful work. Robin Dunham

How did You get permission to take photos from the top of the Temple of the Jaguar? It was roped off to the public to when I was there. I wish I had been able to shoot from there. Great shot, great perspective, but Your file size is much too small for viewing. Do You have a better scan?
