Hi Giulio,

Nice - the soft and subtle colours as well as the feeling of emptiness and solitude have been well caIptured. Very appealing photo.

The image has a certain softness over it, specifically in the clouds, which fit well.

Cheers,

Hugo

Hey Max,

Nice and simple view, with a very good tonal range. As to the composition, and the way I perceive the mood, I'm not sure if the blurry figure on the left is an addition, as I think it rather closes the composition a bit. The sole fiddler, with only the hands in sight is powerful enough to carry the whole scene, if you know what I mean. The use of the negative space on the left works well, but is interrupted by the figure, I believe.

Good tonal range, and Great to see you're still using the ol' ME Super... I've just dusted mine, as I plan to take a few rolls of film with it soon....:)

Cheers,

Hi,

Outstanding tonal range and a very intriguing subject. IMO, the centered composition just slightly reduces the impact of this shot, and I think you might be able to increase the impact of this photo if you could've gotten a bit closer to the tractor; the wide angle is great, though.

Very strong shot.

Cheers,

Hi Stef,

A nice shot, and horizontally, well composed. Considering the tight crop in the lower half (the cliffs) I think a little too much emphasis goes out to the sky; panning down might work, although, that would place the horizon in the middle, and that's something you don't really want either. Maybe a vertical / portrait format could solve it... Anyway, a fine photo, nice tones...

Cheers,

Hi Stef,

Very nice composition, and a good use of the lines in the field, a simple, but well carried out photo.

A very nice one for the patterns in nature project, too.

Cheers,

Hi Ingrid,

The abstract element is nicely appealing, as is the cool blue tone; the structure of the ice is just - barely - recognisable enough to add a touch of reality to the photo. Very well composed, and nicely captured.

Hi Rajesh,

The "missing" horizon makes this shot for me, as if the make shift bridge runs on and on forever. Good capture!

Hi Barbara,

Good find, and a fine composition. I like the high key element, with the subtle details in the grate. Very nice shot.

Hi Anupam,

A pity about the tilt in the photo, and I think you could've zoomed in a bit - it might've made the photo stronger. Still, the backlighting and the scene is very nice, a lot of potential in this photo. Good catch!

Very cool shot, and great fun trying! The snow adds a drama to the photo, with the flares of the red lights. Very well captured. The noise / grain, however, is quite substantial...

Very spectacular photo; I like the double pano - image format and the actual view through the windows. Very strong photo.

Hope all is well.

Hi Joggie,

Good backlit image, and an excellent composition. I like how the shoreline leads the eye towards the nuclear plant.

I think the sky and fog lack a bit of clarity and crispness; they look a bit smudgy, if you know what I mean. The image is also a bit noisy, especially near the top of the image, which makes me think you did some extensive work on that area...

Hope all is well,

Cheers,

Hi Debra,

I like the clarity in this shot- good tones, but it looks a tad over sharpened. The composition is great, though....

Hi Jinggoy,

Excellent details and textures. I like this close up view - it's not the most common approach, but that's what I think separates it from the others.... Very good photo.

Cheers,

hugo

Hi Paul,

Although I haven't seen the original, I think you are spot on with the composition here. Good angle, too. The progress you've gone through in the last few years is incredible - this is top notch.

Hi Rob,

Awesome photo. To me, there are a few very strong elements in it:
- the guiding line on tyhe left
- the crystal clear reflection in the lake
- the deep blue sky with immaculate white clouds
- the touch of warmth on the oposite side of the lake
A very well balanced photo, with a very good contrast and tonal range. Great shot!

Hi Sam

I'd do anything to be on top of that rock. Must've been awesome. Very good shot, too, using the DOF to create the feel of magnitude and distance. Great shot.

Hi Sam,

I think the tones are great, and I don't think anyone can critisise the POV - it's a classic. A few of halo-ish transitions in the gradient around the sun, but They're always very difficult to prevent. Very nice shot!

Hi Ina,

Nice to see you back! Hope you're OK.

I like the flow and imaginary line, connecting the masts and the top of the skyscrapers, creating something of a sine-curve. Nice touch!

Maybe the lower part is a bit closely cropped, but I'm not sure if you could've prevented that. Maybe a lower POV?

There's something both very appealing and quite ominous about this photo. I'm not sure what it is, but I do like the feel and atmosphere. Very powerful photo.

Hi Klaas,

Fabulous photo, Love the soft light - brighter than it seems - through the trees. The crisp feel is almost tangible. I can see why it's one of your favourites!

Hi Klaas,

Nice to hear from you again! Apart from this photo being very well balanced, the thing that strikes me most is the distinct late summer feel in it - eventhough it's been taken in witer.... Very unusual - the weather has been way off, hasn't it?

I like the perspective in this photo, but also the warm tones... The date of the capture doesn't affect that, IMHO....:)

Hi Joel,

I think in order to fully appreciate this photo, it should be seen (and held) on paper, and not as an internet image.... I can feel there is a vast subtlety in tones, which are much more difficult to see on screen.

Hi Silvio,

Very moody photo, with some great tones. A couple of strange things going on, though. A few parts seem a bit oversharpened, and there is an apparent tilt in the photo which I can't qauite place. It's not, I think, but the angle in the trees and the extreme wide angle do emphaasise that effect.

Anyways, a very nice shot, I do like the feel, and that's what counts!

Hi Petal,

I think the almost purple sky, reflecting the urban lights in the clouds adds to this photo. The composition leans a bit towards the left, though - there's more negative space on the right than necessary, IMO. Also, the buildings seem to converge, which, over this distance, seems a bit uynnatural. Last - there seems to be a slight counter clocwise tilt in this photo.

Never the less a very well exposed shot, well caputed! I always like this type of nocturnal cityscapes, and this is no exception.

Hi Petal,

Very nice capture - I like the curve created by the curve in the line of poles, and the colours, as well as the aligned shadows - almost pointing towards the next one (at first) is a very nice detail. Good shot.

Hi Roland - The figure admiring the rock formation makes this shot IMHO - it creates an excellent reference with the sheer size of El Capitan. Not the most common approach, but definitely very effective.

Hi Giulio,

The neat arrangement of the clouds, spreading out acreoss the image, and balancec by the dunes create a very intiguing photo - Excellent atpmaophere, and a perfectly exposed photo. Very creative!
