Thanks Vanessa. I actually prefer the cloudy days for shooting. They seem to suit my style of landscape.

Thanks for the invite Richard. I'll bring my six kids, mother in law and the four Rottweillers.
We only need a little room for our trailer.
Only kidding of course
But, If I'm up that way, I will email you for a map to some of the sites at least.

A long driveway lined with trees, is the only evidence that a farm once existed here. The house is well back from the road, and obscured by foliage most of the year. I stumbled upon it by accident one November. And yes Andre, it is a stones throw from the ski runs. Well, maybe if you have an arm like Damon Allen. Thanks for the interest, if you ever get up here again I'll give you a tour of my fav "relics".

Hi Richard,
I'm wondering how I missed this place. We were walking around at the top of those ski hills in the summer a few years ago and didn't see anything like this. Is it near the Blue Mountain ski runs? These places are so interesting! I'm sure you must have some close-ups of the brickwork as well. I'll check.

Thanks for the comment John. This is a fav location of mine. The farm must have been stunning in it's heyday. It is located on top of an escarpment, about 1000 feet above Georgian Bay. The view from the house would have been spectacular.
BTW the conditions you describe for your shot are tough for ant camera.

Great find absolutely a great farm shot - I'm always interested in old farm scenes, again great capture. As far as my shot of beautiful colors it happened to be a very gloomy and foggy day,
thanks for the reply John

Sharp shot, Richard.
To answer your recent questions: For a long time I used the fine jpeg setting, but now I always shoot in RAW. I have the custom setting set to 'vivid', but still do a lot of work in PS.
Kind regards, Chris

Thanks Andre. Yes, I was playing around in Photoshop on this one. I don't usually do much after the fact (aside from B+W conversions), but today I just felt like experimenting with layers. Nothing new or original, except perhaps adding the posterized layer. The process is described above.

Yes CorrieLynn this was done in Photoshop. One image, three layers: the base layer which was sharpened, the second layer was posterized 16 levels, the third had gausian blur applied. I think the opacity of two layers was 50%, bit I am not sure. I basically just played around until I got the look I wanted. At the end I flattened the layers, to reduce the size of the file. I don't usually do much work post-capture, but today I felt like experimenting. Hope this was of interest to you.

Hi Richard,
There is an interesting soft look to the whole image that makes it look a little like a water-colour.
Any special effects used?
Nice job!

This turned out really well, especially with the flowers. I also like the effect it has on the old chipping paint on the truck.

Im guessing you did this in photoshop?
I know the old orton method is done with two negatives, one slightly blurry, and one sharp, and then sandwiched together.
For this, did you take two images, and put them together? or did you take one, duplicate it, blur one and then put them together? Just curious, i like the effect!
