I am the same way, I will go through a month or two where I swear, I walk crooked, I am so preoccupied with angles. Then, it goes away for a bit, which is nice, nobody like a crooked girl! hee hee Really, diagonals are just so much fun, hope you stay (at least partly) in your phase!

Thanks Ashley. I like strong diagonals (maybe I'm going through a stage), as a compositional element. That is what first attracted me to your photograph.

Great use of that perfect shadow. Really makes the angle of the walk that much more interesting. I like it!

Hi Richard, It's really quite amazing how they can move these buildings up and down hills. It would be in a slightly different place every couple of days on the way back and forth to work. It's been in the same place now for almost a year. I suppose the developer has a plan for it, but they are going to wait for the new development to slow down or finish. There is another one from the 1870's that they are leaving in place. It's funny, it doesn't look like much and has just recently been vacated. It has some historic significance, but I don't know what it is. Andre

Hi CorrieLynn. This house probably could be restored to it's former glory. I am sure there are some wonderful floors, etc., that could be revived. I believe it was only abandoned when the property was sold to develop the rec centre for Wasaga Beach. It is my understanding that many of the farmhouses in Ontario were built to a plan provided by the British. Some are frame construction, but the better off families opted for brick which was more expensive at the time.

Wow, it does look a lot like the others. I was thinking it was the same house as the one that you had photographed with cows outside of it.
There are a ton of these houses here outside of hamilton, but sadly theyre being torn down one by one to make room for the never-ending growing population.(which is silly since we have a lot of room in the city being wasted) Its funny the way 'abandoned' houses look here, where as where my family is from in the usa, you NEVER see an abaondoned brick house, theyre all wood sided, and look horrid from weather damage This house looks like it could use a bit of work, but from the outside still looks liveable!

I know Elizabeth, the car really does look out of place. I will be going back to this location again at a better time of day, and will experiment with some different angles. It is difficult, the house is located in a large recreation complex. Thanks for the comment.

Thanks Andre. This place looks a little more solid than many I have seen. It was abandoned when the owners sold the land for a huge rec complex.

Actually, this is a new subject CorrieLynn. I found it taking the long way home a couple of weeks ago, hence the mid-day shot. There are many abandoned houses like this in the area (some brick, some not), it was a standard architectural plan for 1860's Ontario.

I very much like the colour and angle of the house.. the way it is taken. The only thing that throws me and that catches my eye right away is the modern vehicle sitting in the background.... takes from the historics of the house...

Hi again Richard, Check this one out. This place was moved about 1km from it's original spot in some nice open fields, to make room for a huge new home development in Markham. I pass by it on the way to work every day and wonder what the history of the place is. At least they didn't tear it down. As you can see, it is still up on the same moving girders and is not going anywhere fast. Andre

I like this one best, from the varied perspectives, of your "Duntroon" collection. Richard. The old, wooden building, nicely fills the picture, and the grazing cow adds some scale.
I always like the autumnal red light at this time of year, as it intensifies the natural colours and contributes a warm tone. These warm colours may oppose the overall abandoned home theme, but I think they combine well, to give a satisfying image.
Regards Colin
