Good shot, Richard. Looked at naturalistically, it's very sparse and there's a great sense of isolation; looked at as Photoart, there's an interesting range of colour and texture. (If you crop the top half of the picture, it does create a real Photoart effect.)

The superb light and colour takes away the lonliness but adds something different. More of a nostalgia of what once was. There is a touch of the eerie in that I see a black robed person holding a stick, in the doorway above the front door. I was reading the forums, saw one of your posts and that you are from Collingwood. I have been up that way many times. There is an old home on Highway 26 between Barrie and Wasaga that I spent hours photographing. I have posted it in colour (Light of Day), sepia (Nostalgia)and B/W (After Midnight) to capture the many moods I was feeling the house had. I also went inside, just had to :-) and posted a shot of the rubble entitled 'Down and Out'. There is also an incredible house (waiting...) on the corner of Highway 10 and 89 just west of Alliston. I had many trips to Camp Borden this summer as my son was in basic training so took the opportunity to explore.

This is fantastic, Richard. You have captured a wonderful lonely atmosphere. The lone cow adds such a touch of strangeness. Don't you just love the different moods created by these abandoned old homes when captured in B/W or colour or even from different angles.

Hi Richard, If you are in your mid fifties, you are in my ball park. Most Canadians have some kind of six degrees of separation to some famous hockey player. One year after the Leafs were eliminated by Philly (pyramid power year) Red Kelly walked up to me and asked me directions for an address. We were at a golf driving range and I was putting my clubs in the trunk when he tapped me on the shoulder. This was about 2 days after the Leafs were eliminated. It is very strange when you meet someone unexpected like that after you have been watching them on tv and following every move they make. My wife goes to the same aerobics classes as Kris Draper's mom. They invited the neighborhood kids over when he had the Stanley Cup for a BBQ. So my two boys got to lift up the cup. Even if it was a Detroit win, Kris lived just a few blocks from us. Both of my boys have played along side of a couple of NHL players when they were in their novice years before they moved out of their leagues to triple A. I remember when I was in grade school and the Leafs were winning cups regularly, it wasn't cool to be a Leaf fan. Kind of like when kids a few years ago used to claim they hated Gretzky. Andre

We must be about the same age Andre. My fav Leafs were Keon, Duff, and of course "the Chief", George Armstrong. A little later Andy Bathgate moved in a couple of streets over, and became an instant hero when he came out to watch us play road hockey.

Richard, I also go mountain bike, trail riding. Not racing and not as much as I used to, but I love it. My sons or brother and I used to take the bikes and ride trails all over Southern Ontario. The problem with Mountain bikes is they don't lend themselves well to sensitive cameras My wife and I are constantly going on long walks through trails around here and at the cottage. As you can tell from my portfolio. We bought a couple of kayaks this year too, and used them an awful lot this year. (right up to last week) I have been a Leafs fan since Keon and Mahovolich were winning cups for them Always had lots of respect for the Canadiens though. Our company team ended up getting home and away Sens sweaters, which I now use for our pick-up night. I think that automatically puts a bulls-eye on my back for the rest of the guys Andre
