strange combination of apperture/iso values and shutter speed, but it worked allright for this well composed 'ghosty'image.

I like the red frame...and the feeling on how to get inside and discovering what is behind those lovely gate. I would rather taking it abit closer or crop them a bit to avoid the unnecessary details. all in all, it is lovely picture.

Very good lighting but find that you could of used a slower speed as some of the lights are overexposed (especially the white building). Here I would of used a horizontal shot as you it would include more of the surrounding. Keep up the good work.

Excellent lighting in this night shot. I would just get a little closer to have the lamps on the side of the fram and also you would get more details of the building. Great work.

Very good night shot Sujisu, but it's always difficult to get everything balanced especially with bright lit objects like this.

It's nice and sharp, and composition is flawless.

Ciprian

Hi, Deb Mayes

I agree with you and thank you very much for your suggestion. I have been happy to take the pictures and waiting freinds give greated comment. A Photo that you adjusted is excellent colors. May be I used the wrong films selected and incorrected in thier suitation.

This photo has the ingredients for a good shot, water, reflections, the boat, and a sense of depth.

In the end, though, the photo doesn't work for me. The problem, imho, is that it was taken at the wrong time of day, and the light is too stark, fading the color right out of it.

I took the liberty of playing with the photo a little to show how I envision this scene if it were taken later in the day. (It may be over the top a little, I'm a huge Velvia fan.) If you have the opportunity to redo the shot later in the day, I'm sure you'd get something better than what I cooked up.

I second Steves comments regarding the crop and I also really like the graduation of texture from the lower right to the brighter top left. I look forward to seeing more images appear on your portfolio. Regards and thanks for your own comment.

Hello Sujisu,

Your photo is wondeful! I like the composition you made by waiting until the 2 boats were in those positions. There is a pleasing tension between the near boat in the lower right and the far boat at top-center left.

Also, the tonality of your photo is very good -- the dark water at the bottom (but still with good texture) transitions nicely to the lighter water towards the middle of the photo.

My only suggestion would be to see if you like the photo with some of the sky cropped out. I like it better that way, but it is a personal choice. I have attached an example of what I mean.

Thank you for your kind comments on my Annapolis photo. Yes, the aperture seems wrong, but I think it may actually be correct. These little point-and-shoot cameras often use only one of two apertures, say f/2.8 and f/14, in auto or program mode. The info stored with the image did say f/2.8.

Also, I understand that because of the very small sensor size and very short focal lengths of these lenses, the DOF is pretty large - that's another reason I eventually got a digital SLR. This photo was shot at the short end of the zoom range.

Best regards,
SteveR
