I was in a Goodwill store today… hmmm… “Goodwill” stores are where people drop off things they no longer value and other people (Like me) go in and hunt for bargains. I found 2 Les Paul record albums for .99 cents!!!! I was actually looking for a tie (knecktie) for the oldest boy’s wedding in 5 days… and I saw a globe on a stand. I spun and tilted it and looked… you N-Z’Landers are Waaaaaaayyyy down there, aren’t ya???? I have several places I want to see before I die… and N’Zea-land was not very high on my list… but after spinning the globe and looking…. I gotta visit yer part of the world.

as usual reality checkers are left out altogether and we are drawn into the underworld of the overworld.. philosophy aside a splendid shot.. philosophy thrown in and the image takes on mass.. density and intrigue which drives up a desire to see more

Thanks Steve, and thanks for the link (rare to get someone not referncing themselves. She's a beaut, and I see our methods are the same (but for the life of me can't work out how she's getting some of those layers).

Ahh yes eventually it will get ideas above it's station and two minimalist signs, one saying "ladies" and the other "gents".

The type of contrast reminds me also of IR photography, Ian. I was about to say that it is a bot too weak for such a sight but I guess that more contrast would subtract from the image those nice creamy gradients of the reflections which make up most of the charm here. But the plants, and especially the tree in the depth add also much atmosphere here.

Cheers!

I will do some tries on overlays here, Ian, but I need time that I don't have right now. Anyway, your invitation for an opera remains in my mind.

It will take some more time too, until I start posting my own multiple exposures, and I think that the best of all would be to return to your images at that time and start a comparative and closer look.

Cheers!

Two complementary colors, a simple and clear design of composition, and a good focus on the main subject with a good limitation of DoF for enhancing the importance of the protagonist in front of the background that echoes back the main subject. Such a good image, Ian!

Sorry that I haven't been about of late. Will try to fix that. I still love your work Ian. The weave of image and ambiguity and Maori stories is wonderful. I have got to get to your part of the world and see it for myself. Love the tuner welding images as well. thanks for sharing. John B

I bought the wife an mp3 player a couple of birthdays ago that can record a tape or whatever off the headphones jack, even recognise the gaps and create indiviual files of each track it hears.
Cowan was the brand.

Mmm sounds dreamy. Gimme the history of a lawsuit era rip off any day though. Mines a vester, a yank company that jumped on the japanese factory fender/gibson clone bandwagon just before the lawyers got serious.. When the lawyers came out they were the first to fold (being based in the states) hilarious.
