very professional image, well handled, solid photography.

Who says you need a 2.8 when you look at these 3.5 images.
I have the equivalent Nikon lens annd it's totally useful and a solid lens too boot.

well done yet again.

Hi Jeff,

thank you I had look at your impressive portfolio.
Using Nikon equipment is great, I see you Canon as do our press photographers at the newspaper I work at.
So we on level ground - equipment wise, I shoot at about 7.30 am in what was the sweetest light of the day, the sun kept peeking out of clouds and then disappearing so I guess I was lucky.

I often use a small reflector instead of flash, on this particular day, my reflector was over 400km away and had to rely on skill and experience.

best regards

Hi Jacques
Thank you very much, equipment, anticipation and experience are very well, sometimes you need a decent dose of dumb luck? – or a really fast frames per minute camera.
Appreciate you commenting.
Have a wicked week and all the bst.

Nasty critter.

Never seen one live or stuffed. We don't have them in South Africa, but great capture.

Very graphic, add some copy, slap on a logo and you have a high end Carling Black Label advert.

I love Pertti comment.

Although I think Paris and Nicky might not feel the same way, I mean what's the use of being famous for being famous and then someone say:: Ok so who are you?
Puts everything in context.

We call those heads – 'Smileys'.
Outdoor butchers are so common in Africa, as are the flies.

In Rwanda, DRC you often see bushmeat, whicjh always left me very unsettled.

Nice capture.

See: http://www.sxc.hu/photo/689409
I took a pic in one of the side street of East London, South Africa.

The local authority gives restaurant owners all sorts of hassles about cleanliness, and a huge amount of red tape but completely ignore these bush butchers, you right it is enough to turn anybody into a vegetarian.

Image looks like those Life images from Vietnam. I jumped from these 130's.

In South Africa we called them 'Vlossies',
they were guaranteed to make me airsick because they were as uncomfortable as hell and we had to sit in these tiny little canvis seat facing each other.

I took photos in enough war zones in Namiba and Angola in mid to late 80's, so AK 47's are not my favourite image but lighting is well handled.

You enjoy your 70-200 2.8?

I use Nikon and have the evalivant lens, it's usually tack sharp and I love playing with DOF.

Well Mirek
( No kidding the lighting is really bad. I have a hard time to find a part of that dancer that is no blurry. )

Send me your email address and I will send you an original and you'll find there is a lot more in focus than you think!

His face, skirt, and bead necklace are in fact in sharp focus - I shoot with a D300 and pushed my ISO way up.

I shoot for a newspaper so the process sometimes hides faults, but the lighting was turgid at best, and that's the thing about shooting in these environment – almost nothing works for you, but the editor still expects and image in tomorrow's paper. There is nowhere to hide.

I see in your 'Durbar dash' image you had a fair number of challenges but with advantage of decent light it also looks SOFT but again when you upload youo can't see the high end detail and a image can suffer because of that.

Try shooting at 11.30 in a venue that's far too small and inadequate light, now that's a challenge.

Thanks for your response and your comments.... always appreciated.

Nice a sharp, but your colour looks very flat.

Maybe re-run it through photshoop and auto_contrast the image. It normally gives those tones this image is missing at the moment.

I live in Africa and find these skins tones look too European ... for what it is worth.

Hi Dave, thanks for the commentd.

This is when I get jealous of you Northern Hemisphere types. LOL.

In Africa we don't get the same season differences that you get. Stunning Fall images. I have a S5000 and use it all the time, really great camera.
All the best
