Hi Anirban - I really only use Elements to resize the image - and do a bit of sharpening/changing levels to be honest! I had full PS on my last Mac but it's such a huge tool - more for Pro's. My opinion is that it is up to the artist to use whichever tools they like to create their art-work! Each to their own, as the saying goes! :) It's just the same as dodging and burning in a darkroom as far as I'm concerned. We just have more fun tools at our disposal now - if you know how to use them to best effect! I think it's more about the story or feeling an image conveys than the technicalities of the image. Of course achieving both is ideal. Maybe that's why I'm just an amateur!! ;) Cheers, Jo :)

Very nice sunset picture. The white border around the black areas looks little too unnatural thought. / suvro@FreeDigitalBackdrop.com

Hey there - I'm no expert - there are others on the site that will be able to give you better technical advice...but a wise man once told me....

Steve Kaufman {K:2823} 4/17/2004
Joanna, when you upload to usefilm, it will become an SRGB file format. To see what the image will look like in advance, go to Image>Mode>Assign Profile, and select SRGB. In my experience, this will make the image a bit lighter, and not as saturated as compared to the original image file on my Mac. Make subtle adjustments once the file is SRGB, and I think you'll be happier with the look of your image once you upload it to usefilm. Also, in general, you will get better adjustments if you adjust Levels and Curves rather than the Brightness/Contrast controls. PS is one of those programs that takes a long time to master, but it doesn't take so long to learn how to make a few simple adjustments using curves and levels.

maybe this will help?! best of luck! i still think it's a great shot! :) cheers, jo
