Good image. Very smooth.
Converts nicely to B&W if you like that kind of thing. (I tried it for my own amusement).

Very powerful image. I love that thing in the foregraound that frames the church. It gives a lot of depth to the photo. The whole image feels surreal. Well done.

great scnery; don't you have a shot without this wooden object in the front - would be amazing shot; right now the background is very interesting but the view is distracted by this wooden object;
love tones here;

Barry, I see what you mean, but it might be a result of the web compression. I made a 10" print of this and the detail is great, but it may lack that bite in the contrast department. Post processing is something I'm struggling to get the grip of, but practice makes perfect I suppose. I also think that the 800 pixel max. post size is very limiting for a lot of work, particularly images such as this that contain a lot of detail. We should have links to larger files.

Bren, I can see what you were trying to achieve but I think I preferred the colour original as this one looks too digital. The textures here are softened (check out the grass on the right and the boarding on the old buildings) which is a typical digital issue and I think you need very crisp textures and tones in B&W as these are the only things that give a B&W image its strength.

Hi Bren, although it might be a small difference there are quite a few steps between them. I usualy start by creating a layer masks that handle, levels, brightness/contrast, luminusity, hue/saturation, color, etc... they might be small diferences but on print they will make all of the diference... Let me know if you need more info...

Thank you Karen, but in true advertising style, it is actually just a glass of lemonade with a salted rim. I wonder would that qualify it as a "manipulated" photo Apparently this stuff does work, although I haven't personally tried it. I prefer the "know-your-limit" method although I am partial to the odd margaita.
