Nice skyline. Could almost go in a silhouette category!

Lovely contrasting colours when juxtaposed with the first one in the series. They will look great displayed together, partly because of the colours, but also because the essential qualities of the first picture are carried over successfully into the second one. For me this makes the whole impression much stronger.
Very good.
(You might try adding a thick black border to enhance the impact - just a thought.)

Hi Emma

There's lots about this photo that I like, yet somehow I felt I wanted to like it more, after being attracted to the thumbnail. I'll try and explain but I'm not really sure I understand exactly why I felt that.

The colours are beautiful! I guess that's down to the other flower in the background. The macro shot of the leaf shows some detail but personally I wanted to see more clarity. I wasn't sure if the blurriness was focal or motion in origin. Overall there is a lovely glow to the image which gives it a kind of mystical quality.

Congratulations on producing a thought-provoking image.

Hi Bryce

Really liked this one (found it browsing through the scientific category).

Perfect blend of colour and shape - I have it as my desktop background now. Hope you don't mind!

Thanks Jose

It's a shot of the Post Office Tower in London.

It was a bright sunny morning and the reflection in the Euston Tower office block opposite my hotel window was both distorted yet recognisable.

I liked the random distortions in each pane with the overall preservation of the character of the building.

This caught my eye.
Lovely composition with excellent use of DOF.

Well done.

Perhaps, George Orwell Society.
(With help from your clue in the other photo.)
Still can't see what it is though.

Beautiful picture with plenty to set you thinking.
Am I right in guessing that you've chosen to display it upside down? The reeds at the top look wavy and the ones at the bottom are straight.
Adds to the slightly surreal quality of the picture.
Well done

I was inspired by some of the other pictures of mushrooms and toadstools here on Usefilm, to go and have a closer look at the large specimens that have recently appeared all over our lawn.
They've all gone again now. Weird things, fungi!

My first thought for a title was "Bad Hair Day" so I'm with you on that one.

I was lying down in the garden when I took the picture.

Melted gum. Now there's an interesting one!
Reminds me of that horrible tacky sensation when you tread on gum on the pavement.
Not right, though.

Mark, Thanks for the really helpful description accompanying the picture. I love to read about peoples' subjects and techniques. It not only adds tremendously to the picture but helps to inspire me to take better pictures myself.
This one is just wonderful.

This is a great picture, Anthony.
I saw it this morning and I just had to come back for a second look on a bigger screen (I was using the PocketPC before).
It just captures the sense of being there really well. Love it.

A lovely silhouette that captures the power of the waves and the evening sky nicely. I like the clouds reflected in the wet sand too!

Truly beautiful! I love the added depth that the mist gives. I can live without the deer - just the scene is enough to make this a wonderful picture.

I don't know where that B/W shot came from! It's not one of mine (a glitch in the server perhaps).
Let me try again.

Amazing how selective the memory can be!
I found the picture I was thinking of but it wasn't nearly as good as I remembered. Perhaps the sea was a little too disturbed by the breeze.
Anyway, I much prefer yours - more vibrant colours and interesting shapes.

Hi Karen

Just my kind of picture.
I love the abstract qualities of bright colours reflected in water. I might try and put one of mine up later today.

Hi

This picture really set me thinking! I was trying to use the shafts of light on the dial to work out what time the picture was taken when I sensed something was wrong. It took me a few minutes to realise the numbers go the opposite way to ones I usually see which must mean it's made for the Southern hemisphere. If I'd just checked the location I'd have worked it out quicker!
I think if I had been taking this picture I would probably have tried a square on alignment with the plinth to try and capture the regularity, symmetry and scientific origins of the subject. But that's just me!
Anyway thanks for making me think about the other half of the world I haven't visited (yet).

Hi Luisa

This was the first morning I was on Skiathos and the only time I saw the beach looking like this. I was very fortunate.
BTW, the title is a dreadful pun (for which I apologise) - digital photography is a bit of a sunrise industry, but this is such a global community I shouldn't expect so much people of people for whom English is not their first language, should I

Green

Thanks for your kind comments. It was fascinated by the driftwood I saw on the beaches last year in Kefalonia, so this year I went looking again on another Greek island. I didn't have to go far- this was our local beach. I took many photos there because the shapes were so interesting and the light was really special.
