Photographer: Richard Gain (Karma=386)
Poynton, Cheshire UK
About: My first camera was a Box Brownie I was given when I was seven. I inherited several more hand-me-downs from my dad, eventually using an EXA 500 SLR camera with a collection of second-hand lenses for many years - photography on a tight budget. I also taught myself a bit of developing and printing in B&W. Then I upgraded to digital a couple of years ago. Suddenly photography is fun again. I enjoy the spontaneity, the instant feedback that encourages experimentation and the value for money. This year I've upgraded to the Dimage Z5 for more pixels, image stabilisation and higher zoom. I enjoy shooting many different kinds of subjects but I love abstract patterns, both natural and man-made - they are the visual equivalent of music, in a way.
